Drugyel Dzong (meaning “Fortress of Victory”) is a historic fortress located in Upper Paro Valley, Bhutan, about 14 km from Paro town. It stands as a powerful symbol of Bhutan’s military triumphs and cultural heritage.

Drugyel Dzong was built in 1649 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, Bhutan’s unifier, to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over Tibetan invasions. The dzong served both as a defensive fortress and an administrative center, protecting the western approaches to the kingdom.
